All Characters & Build Guide
Every playable character in Kyoto Xanadu: Sakura Gensou — detailed profiles, elemental affinities, Soul Device weapons, combat roles, and build recommendations based on early access reviews and official materials.
Rei Kamiya(神矢 伶)
Weapon: Soul Device — Twin Blades
Transfer student who awakens as a Qualified One at Hirasaka Academy. Rei wields dual Soul Device blades with balanced speed and power, making him the most flexible character in any party. His Secret Combo ('Hi-Rengki' / 秘連撃) deals massive AoE light-element damage. Best used as your primary frontline fighter.
Chinatsu Momoki(百鬼 千奈)
Weapon: Soul Device — War Fan
Senior student with a playful, mature personality. Chinatsu's War Fan Soul Device delivers devastating fire-element area attacks. Her Secret Combo is one of the highest-damage ultimates in the game — ideal for boss burst phases. Slightly fragile; pair with a tank or keep her mobile.
Fuka(楓華)
Weapon: Soul Device — Staff
A calm and reliable presence in the party. Fuka's water-element staff provides healing, party-wide buffs, and defensive utility. Her Soul Accel extends buff duration for the entire party — activate it before boss fights for a significant advantage.
Rurui(露露伊)
Weapon: Soul Device — Dual Pistols
Quick and elusive ranged fighter. Rurui's dual pistols pepper enemies from a distance with wind-element shots, applying debuffs and interrupting enemy attacks. Her mobility is unmatched — she can dodge-cancel out of any animation, making her nearly untouchable in skilled hands.
🧩 Elemental Affinity System
Each character carries a Shikirei Talisman (式霊符) that determines their elemental affinity. Elements follow a rock-paper-scissors counter system:
Weak vs Water
Weak vs Wind
Weak vs Fire
Weak vs Dark
Talismans drop from elite dungeon bosses. Each boss victory offers three choices: acquire a new talisman, enhance an existing one, or extract a fresh modifier for later use.
